Global water crisis and role of Russia in its resolution. [Globalnyi vodnyi krizis i rol’ Rossii v ego razreshenii] (rus)
The paper examines the causes of aggravated freshwater deficit. It is shown that by third decade of the 21st century this deficit will become global resulting in structural changes in world economy. At the world market, the sectors of water-retaining production and water-saving and water-preserving technologies will develop whereas water markets will remain mainly basin-based because of dramatic increase in the cost of water transportation across boundaries of water basins. Russia possesses tremendous freshwater resources whose usage will make it possible to develop the manufacturing of different sorts water-intensive produce up to export scales and not only to meet the needs of world community but also to ensure qualitative economic developments in Russia.
